If you're on the hunt for authentic Vietnamese cuisine in Elmhurst, look no further than Phở Bằng, where the rich flavors of Vietnam come alive. Nestled at 8290 Broadway, this beloved local restaurant has garnered a loyal following for its delectable dishes that are as comforting as they are flavorful.

Step inside and breathe in the aromatic medley of spices and savory broths that greet you at the door. The atmosphere is unfussy and warm, inviting you to settle in for a quick bite or a lingering meal. Whether it's a bustling lunch or a cozy dinner, Phở Bằng maintains a lively yet comfortable vibe, making it easy to understand why many customers return time and again.

The highlight of any visit to Phở Bằng is, of course, the celebrated pho. Dive into a steaming bowl of Tai Nam Gau Gan Sach, a fantastic combination of fresh eye of round, brisket, tendon, and omosa, all harmonizing beautifully in a rich broth that warms your heart. Another popular choice is the Chin Nam Gau Gan Sach, with its hearty portions leaving you satisfied yet yearning for just one more sip of that incredible broth. Accompany your pho with mouthwatering appetizers like Goi Cuon (summer rolls) or the savory Cho Gio (Vietnamese spring rolls), which are bursting with flavor and texture, perfect for sharing or keeping all to yourself.

Beverage options are equally enticing, with the opportunity to savor a traditional Vietnamese coffee. The Ca Phe Sua Da (iced coffee with condensed milk) is to die for, delivering a perfect blend of sweet and bold, revitalizing your senses for the feast ahead. For something refreshing, try the Tra Da Chanh (iced lemon tea) after your meal, boasting a delightful balance of tart and sweet.

Customer reviews echo the sentiment that this gem is worth it. Cat L shares that Phở Bằng has been their go-to spot since childhood, while Kathy Wong declares it her comfort food haven, raving about the perfectly marinated pork chops and a delightful discovery of crab cakes that hit the taste buds just right. Beatrice Evans and Vanessa Audrey emphasize the no-frills charm, balancing delicious food with a quick service model that's perfect for busy diners on the move.

However, a heads-up for first-time visitors: remember to bring cash, as this cash-only establishment keeps things straightforward. A fast-paced dining environment might mean waiting in line, but rest assured that those who know where to find great pho are always willing to take that extra step.

So, whether you’re craving a soul-warming bowl of pho or a quick, flavor-packed appetizer, Phở Bằng promises a satisfying culinary experience that embodies the heart and soul of Vietnamese dining. Stop by, savor the flavors, and find out why this spot remains a cherished favorite in the community.

I've been coming here since I was a kid, and it’s still my go-to spot for a decent bowl of pho. I always order the #30 pho, but I also occasionally get the pork chop over rice, the fried spring rolls, or summer rolls. The service is quick even when the place gets busy, and they clean up the tables right away. After you finish eating, you leave your tip and bring your bill up to the front to pay. If you're craving a comforting bowl of pho broth, this place will do.

haven’t been here after it reopened. Went here finally and ordered a pho with beef ribeye. the pho was good. Very hearty and a decent portion. I was craving some bahn mi too but this place doesn’t sell any. Bummer. Just FYI this is a cash only establishment so make sure you carry enough cash.

Pretty good food here. The menu has a wide selection and from what I can tell everything looks pretty good. The pho I had was very good although you don’t get that much meet. We ordered this noodle and pork dish that you wrap in lettuce and that was much better than the pho. The waiters aren’t too nice and the restaurant is no frills but if you’re looking for a quick option it’s good. The prices are good but average for the neighborhood.

the food, i’d give 1000/10 in a heartbeat, it was DELICIOUS. the beansprout, 10000/10 (i LOVE beansprout), they got rid of the end and it’s super fresh. but they only accept cash and there’s ppl fighting when i got there so yeah.. but if you want a great pho, definitely come here, but dont forget your cash and you cant sit for long bcs there’s always a line (ppl know where the good food is)

I absolutely love Vietnamese food—pho is my ultimate comfort food. I come here at least twice a month. The pork chops are perfectly cooked and marinated, and I just discovered something new—crab cakes! They totally made my day, and I enjoyed every bite. The only thing that keeps us a little apart is that they only accept cash.
